Coffees from the micro plantations of the Capucas cooperative in the western part of Honduras are a regular part of the roastery's offer. They also added certified ECO coffee from this cooperative, which is entirely grown in a natural way in accordance with organic standards. Caramel and nutty flavors dominate the coffee.

The history of coffee cultivation dates back to 1885, when the first coffee trees were planted in the area by Atanacio Rodolfo Romero, the great-grandfather of the current manager of the cooperative, Omar Rodriguez. Coffee and tobacco were first grown solely for their own needs. 75 years later, his grandson, the father of Omar Rodriguez, expanded the family coffee plantation, he also acquired new knowledge and thus raised coffee cultivation to a professional level.

More and more families in the area began to make a living by growing coffee. In 1999, Omar Rodriguez, the great-grandson of Atanacio Rodolfo Romero, founded the Capucas cooperative, whose purpose is to connect small producers and in this way raise the quality of production and the excellence of the harvest.

The cooperative helps implement and finance development projects and promote the joint Capucas brand in the coffee market. At the same time, to raise the quality of life and educate the local community.

In almost a decade of operation, the cooperative has acquired almost 700 members who participate in realisation of its vision. "We still have a lot of potential to improve our work," says founder and president Omar Rodriguez. "The fact that we are small and connected is our guarantee that we can do our work better and better and in this way provide an excellent product."

Coffee from the Capucas cooperative is grown without the use of artificial fertilizers and has the following certificates:

  • Organic product
  • Rainforest Alliance.

Freshly roasted in a small family roastery

All Escobar coffees carry stories of the people who grow them and retain a full body of aromas in which we can taste the peculiarities of the parts of the world where the beans are grown.

Freshly roasted

Escobar coffees are always roasted fresh in small quantities in the family micro roastery in Vrhnika. Coffee is roasted daily on demand and never stored.

A selection of coffees

All coffees are carefully selected, often come from smaller farms and, whenever possible, follow the principles of "direct trade", which ensures a fair payment to the growers.

Roasting profile

Roaster Omar chooses his own roasting profile for each coffee to bring out the most colorful aromas.
